The ETYWE is a highly select, All-State quality band of approximately 62 members, open by invitation to high school students from throughout East Tennessee. The group meets twice each spring to rehearse and perform band music drawn from both the standard repertoire and exciting new works for band.

Students are invited to join ETYWE based on the results of their placement in the All-State East auditions. Those placing highest in each section are given first opportunity to join, before alternates are contacted.

The ETYWE is not a substitute for high school band or All-East membership. In order to remain eligible, students must maintain continuous enrollment in their high school band, and audition annually for and participate in the All-East bands. Once a member of ETWYE, however, students may continue regardless of future audition results.
