map shows the regions of the world where Albanian is
commonly spoken (red circle).
Albanian comes in two linguistic flavors--Tosk and
Gheg. These are not particularly closely related to
other modern languages. Albanian is basically its own small
branch
of Indo-European with no close siblings on the family tree
of Indo-European.
